About Engage

Engage exists to provide perspective on culture through the eyes of a Biblical worldview, showing how that worldview intersects with culture and engages it.

We are a team of 20-somethings brought together by a common faith in Jesus Christ and employment in our parent organization American Family Association.

The workplace, whether an office job or professional sports team, is an interesting place typically filled with people from across the country, with vastly different backgrounds, and astonishingly different personalities.

Two years ago, a group of those young, different individuals met together in a small conference room to discuss something missing in American Family Association. We were all in our 20s, had been working for AFA for a few years, and realized we worked for a ministry that had no engagement for people in our age range. There was absolutely nothing for the generation entering the work force and beginning their fully-realized independent lives.

In our first meeting, we had a graphic designer, a video producer, a former third grade teacher, a film writer/director, a news correspondent, and a magazine writer. In the two years since that meeting, we have added a few more writers, a sports fanatic, a social media obsessive, a videographer, and many more.

Our team represents all stages of young life. Some are newly married, while others are single. One has three kids, some have one, one has his first due in September.

The point is, we are a group filled with very different people in different stages, with different interests, and different backgrounds. We have three things that bring us together: our faith, our employer, and our belief in Engage.

What you see before you is the product of people coming together to answer one question, “How can we use the gifts God has given us and the platform of our employer, to reach our generation?”

This is the first step to answering that question. We have many more steps to take. This is a journey for us, a journey we would like you to join.

Here is our promise to you: We won’t try to tell you what to think. Quite honestly, we are tired of reading articles and hearing people tell us what we need to think, how we need to think, and what we need to do with our thinking. Instead, we will simply explain what we believe, why we believe it, and how that belief effects our lives.

We promise to be human. We will make mistakes. The only thing perfect about us is our ability to be imperfect.

But our thoughts will be based on a worldview grounded in Scripture. We will strive to dive deep into a biblical worldview and examine how it intersects with the world around us. We know whenever our worldview engages culture there is friction. Rather than running away from that, we embrace it, dissect it, and learn from it.

We will examine how a biblical worldview intersects with entertainment, how a biblical worldview made ordinary people do amazing things, how a biblical worldview can inform and effect the way we interact with family and friends, and how a biblical worldview will change the way we do life.

In the end, our goal is in our name. We desire to engage with God, engage with you, and engage with the world. Ready to join us?
